Jessica Wu   (Toronto/Montreal, Canada)
is a visual artist with a background in journalism and documentary
studies. She is interested in retracing stories of immigration through cultural, political and historical lenses to address ever-entangled questions of identity and diaspora.

   ‘Paying Respects 敬祖’ (2025)     A short film using the Chinese ritual of burning joss paper to reflect on questions of death & diaspora. Yiqing explores her grief by offering her ancestors everything they couldn't afford. Everything she burns gets sent to the afterlife. The film plays with themes of memory, distance and dreams.








  ‘Sparrows  麻雀‘  (2026)     An interactive installation and short film exploring the ways in which diasporic members organize mahjong games as a means to create community, negotiate identity, and counter dominant political discourses.
